Continuing on the Cryptos

Image
Hii... So, let's continue our discussion on #cryptos and learn about some other coins..shall we? :P These days whenever, there is a mention of BitCoin, Ethereum comes up and if we talk about Ethereum, one other coin comes up...which is Solana! or what it is usually referred to as 'Ethereum Killer'! So,  what is Solana ? It is another blockchain which uses Smart Contracts as Ethereum, but it is faster compared to the Classic Ethereum because of using it achieves consensus using proof of stake and proof of history. Its internal cryptocurrency is SOL. Okay.. "but what is proof of history?" you might ask.! "Proof of History is a sequence of computation that can provide a way to cryptographically verify passage of time between two events. It uses a cryptographically secure function written so that output cannot be predicted from the input, and must be completely executed to generate the output." Which one is it, you ask?? Well, it is the booming one!!! About which there's a lot of buzzzzzword these days!! Hack yeah, it is Cryptocurrency!! So, let's get straight into it! According to Investopedia, it is: "A cryptocurrency is a digital or virtual currency that is secured by cryptography, which makes it nearly impossible to counterfeit or double-spend. Many cryptocurrencies are decentralized networks based on blockchain technology—a distributed ledger enforced by a disparate network of computers."  You can read more on here:  https://www.investopedia.com/terms/c/cryptocurrency.asp Now, let's tr...

Personal Finance: Saving vs Investing

We, Indians, generally trust our banks the most and put our saved cash with them for security. (Is it totally secure? That's a topic to discuss some other time :P) But, banks giving 4-5% rate of interest and the inflation hovering around average  5-6%, do we consider other options for the same purpose or rather not only saving but to earn more? Let me share some of the instruments I recently learned ab out which, if used wisely, can help us not just in saving but getting good returns, too! You may consider them based on your requirements and risk appetite. NSC( National saving certificate )/ PPF( Public Provident Fund) These are considered one of the safest mode of investment as they are held with Post Office and are backed by the Government. However, the rate of return keeps fluctuating as it is decided by the Central government from time to time. The current rates are  7.10% and 6.8% for PPF and  NSC respectively. Please note that the lock-in for PPF is 15 years an...

GitLab : A New Learning experience

Hi There! Hope you are doing good! So, for my current project work I am learning GitLab for utilizing DevOps methodology for ETL pipelines in existing system. Here I am sharing my experience as I learn GitLab with you. Hope you find it useful.  So, let's get started... First and foremost... What is  GitLab? It is a web based CI/CD tool for version control of your projects at the GitLab server. If you are familiar with some sort of version control(e.g. GitHub or Bitbucket), then starting to work with GitLab will be comparatively easy.(yayyyy!!) According to upgrad, "GitLab is more focused on offering a features-based system with a centralized, integrated platform for web developers, when compared with the popular counterpart GitHub.  Since the team continuously brings new features, it becomes a good option if there is more continuous integration happening in your project." Else, you can go for Instructor led training which is a paid service(of course!). Anyway, there is ample amount of information/...
